First edition. One of 40 numbered copies on "papier du Marais", signed by the author. First edition of the collected poems by probably the most brutal surrealist, who managed to live many lives: musician, photographer, art dealer, publisher, supporting surrealism in England (a truly difficult task), wining and dining, living the poetry and writing it down from time to time. - Magritte was never really keen on illustrating books, but this poetry volume of his comrade in arms Mesens was an offer he could not refuse. And which resulted in very smart replies to Mesens' poems
