Madrid, Real Academia, 1863. 80 etchings and aquatint, printed on heavy wove paper, with the watermark J.G.O. and a palmette, 238 x 336 mm (sheet size). Contemporary half-brown morocco, raised bands, gold fillets, author and title gilt on spine, mauve buckram over boards, sprinkled edges, marbled endpapers. Complete with title page and 2 pp. with biographical information.
 
First edition. Harris 1b, 121-200. Printing by Laurenciano Potenciaono was completed in March 1863. As always, Goya made a complex and sophisticated use of several techniques: etching, aquatint, lavis, drypoint, burin and burnisher.
